*** Haleakalā Chapter's 111th Consecutive Meeting***
KALAMA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL CAFETERIA
Doors Open 5:30 PM  •  Opening Circle 6:00 PM

Aloha Kākou,

Our next chapter meeting is next Tuesday, February 25th in the cafeteria of Kalama Intermediate School on Makani Ave in Makawao. Doors open at 5:30. We will be starting as close to 6pm as possible.

Our featured speakers will be Shay and Ian Chan Hodges, Co-Organizers of the Maui ESG Project. They will provide a brief description of the Ahupua`a Investment Summit that was convened earlier this month, including who attended, feedback from participants, and next steps. Extraordinary events are afoot for Maui.

Our State President, Vincent Mina, will be on hand to share some very exciting news about this year’s State Convention. And I will be updating you on our chapter’s Food Hub plans.

We are all in favor of selling as much of our produce and farm products as we can right here on Maui. But sometimes we have more than the Maui market can take. One of the most receptive buyers in Honolulu is Times Supermarkets. If you are a farmer who wants to sell produce to Times Supermarkets, come meet Robert Bidigare, their distributor’s rep. He will be on hand to talk and answer any questions you may have.

We want to make our meetings as inclusive as possible and that includes parents. Please let all your friends know that children ages 3-13 are welcome to attend our free Junior Farmer Program. Our program director, Havilah Mills, always has exciting and innovative projects designed to entertain and inspire.

Here’s the full agenda:
  • 6:00-6:30 sign-up for open mic (10 people, 90-sec max)
  • 6:45 President Mina’s 2020 State Convention Update
  • 6:55 Open Mic

Mãhalo Nui Loa,

John Dobovan

Haleakalã Chapter President

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization. We are the change we are waiting for. Let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.
