HFUU MAUNA KAHALAWAI TO HOST
FREE THANKSGIVING IMU ROAST

Hawaiʻi Farmers Union United’s Mauna Kahalawai Chapter is holding its inaugural Thanksgiving Imu Roast on Nov. 27-28 at Hoʻomana Farms in Waikapū.
 
HFUU members are invited to this free community event that includes cooking in a Hawaiian-style imu, which is an underground oven that uses steam to cook food.
 
Participants will get an overview of the process, and have an opportunity to assist with preparing the imu. Long pants, shoes and gloves are recommended.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 27: Arrive at the farm by 4 p.m. Bring your prepared Thanksgiving turkey or other food dishes (limited to two dishes per family) in a pan to place in the imu. Dinner will be served, and attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish to share.
 
Thursday, Nov. 28: Meet at 7 a.m. to uncover the imu and retrieve your food. Breakfast will be provided.
