HAIKU COMMUNITY CENTER
Doors Open 5:30 PM • Opening Circle 6:00 PM

Aloha Kākou,

The HFUU State Convention was a roaring success and I was gratified to see so many of you there. The presentations were amazing, the food delicious and plentiful and there was ample opportunity to network with our sibling members from across the State. I’m very happy to add that we signed up over 50 new members.

Our final chapter meeting of the year, and the last in Ha‘iku, is next Tuesday, November 27th, at the Hã‘iku Community Center. Doors open at 5:30pm. We will be starting promptly at 6pm. This month we’re taking a different approach, with a number of brief presentations and a focus on meeting and welcoming our new members.

The Hukilike No Maui proposal for 5,000 acres of the fallow A& B sugar lands continues to move forward and I will have another update on that as well as our chapter’s plans for childcare starting with the January meeting.

Once again, we will be interspersing our unraffle throughout the evening in order to allow everybody a chance to participate more fully.

Here’s the full agenda:

  • 5:30p: Doors open
  • 6:00p: Circle & Pule
  • 6:00p-6:30p: sign-up for open mic (10 people, 1 min max)
  • 6:45p: Open Mic
  • 7:00p: Unraffle
  • 7:05p: Permaculture Workshop Announcement
  • 7:10p: Geogia Pinsky - Host Culture Moment
  • 7:20p: President’s Update (Convention, Hukilike)
  • 7:30p: Havilah Mills – New Member Sharing
  • 8:00p: Unraffle
  • 8:05p: Meet & Greet
  • 8:15p: Pau & Cleanup

Please remember to bring your potluck dish. Entrée’s are encouraged.

This is our last and largest meeting of the year so let’s have a real feast! Let’s fill the produce swap table and the dinner table with abundance.

Mãhalo Nui Loa,

John Dobovan

Haleakalã Chapter President

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization. We are the change we are waiting for. Let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.
