Mauna Kahalawai Chapter Shows Up Big!
October highlights by Keith Ranney:
The Mauna Kahalawai board stepped up big time for this year's annual HFUU convention, beginning with a $5,000 sponsorship! (photo below).
They also spearheaded the organization of food vendors for the convention which as one attendee claimed (me) "broke da mouth!" (that's a good thing)
Full Circle: It's been a super busy month for the Mauna Kahalawai chapter. This was the 2nd year HFUU sponsored an Aid Station at the annual Maui Marathon, one of the top 3 oldest races west of the Mississippi. Last year Lahaina chapter took the lead. This year MK chapter stepped in providing water and encouragement to over 2300 runners from around the world at Aid Station #15 and also sourced and prepared fresh local fruit at the finish line.
The HFUU/Maui Marathon partnership that began last year manifest came together as a result of my role as volunteer director for the marathon. The support Irene and Team provided resulted in the donation of 120 orange cones as well as vests and flags for the convention's parking lot volunteers.
By all counts, the 2018 HFUU Annual Convention was a huge success, made possible by the expansive vision and tireless dedication of HFUU president, Vince Mina, and our unstoppable first lady, Irene Plunkett-Mina. Read about the 8th Annual HFUU Convention on the HFUUHI.org blog.
