*** Haleakalā Chapter's 95th Consecutive Meeting***
HAIKU COMMUNITY CENTER
Doors Open 5:30 PM • Opening Circle 6:00 PM

Aloha Kākou,

Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 24th at the Hã‘iku Community Center. Doors open at 5:30pm. We will be starting promptly at 6pm.

Last month we were overloaded with great presentations and we’ll try to give you a more streamlined evening this month.

As you may have noticed, it’s gotten very hot already and summer has just begun. Many of us are seeing our electric bills skyrocket as a result, which makes our July theme - Hawaii’s transition to 100% clean energy – all the more timely.

Our speakers will be Hannah Shipman of Blue Planet Foundation and Walter Enomoto of Hawai‘i Energy. Together they will offer a wealth of information on energy, legislation and energy efficiency for residential , commercial and agricultural applications. We can save money and the planet.

Here’s the full agenda:

  • 6:00p: Blessing & Dinner
  • 6:00p-6:30p: sign-up for open mic (10 people, 1 min max)
  • 6:45p: Open Mic
  • 7:05p: Hannah Shipman, Blue Planet Foundation
  • 7:40p: Walter Enomoto, Hawaii Energy
  • 8:15p: Pau & Cleanup

Please remember to bring your potluck dish. Entrée’s are encouraged.

About Our Presenters
Blue Planet Foundation's Community Engagement Fellow, Hannah Shipman will present on Hawai'i's transformation to 100% renewable energy by telling Blue Planets Story, the role they are playing in this movement, what is currently at stake, and how to make smarter energy choices to reduce energy consumption.

Hannah will also offer actionable information on how to be more energy efficient as efficiency is our cheapest energy source.

Blue Planet Foundation is local nonprofit powering the transition to 100% clean energy in Hawai'i and leading the way for global change.

Walter Enomoto is currently the Program Specialist for Hawaii Energy in Maui County. He helps to implement all Hawaii Energy residential and commercial programs and processes applications for energy efficiency measures. He also meets with various trade allies, vendors, and business owners, as well provides presentations to different groups and organizations to promote energy efficiency.

This month’s meeting should be a great one. I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Mãhalo Nui Loa,

John Dobovan

Haleakalã Chapter President

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization. We are the change we are waiting for. Let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.
