Hawai'i Farmers Union United, Mauna Kahalawai Chapter presents its monthly locavore potluck from 6 to 8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) Thursday, June 14th - at Maui Chef’s Table at Maui Tropical Plantation, 1670 Honoapiilani Hwy. Mauna Kahalawai Chapter meets the second Thursday of each month.
**Please note venue change, which is just steps away from the usual location.**

Steve Rose is the current President and “Chief Executive Hempster” of the Maui Hemp Institute for Research and Development. For the last 4 years Steve has been one of the leading voices for bringing Hemp Agriculture to Hawaii. Last month he attended the first “legal” planting of Hemp on Maui and is working with government, farmers and private enterprises on bringing Hemp Agriculture to Maui.Hemp Is Here... Let’s Get Planting., who will present a talk titled Maui Hemp Institute for Research and Development of Steve RoseThe evening’s guest speakers include

Brad Bayless and Lehia Apana are apprentices in Hawai’i Farmers Union United’s Farm Apprentice Mentoring (FAM) Program. The husband-and-wife team will share their story as future farmers during a talk titled Native Farm Restoration.” They are currently working to revive their three-acre property in Waiehu- which was previously in Kalo production- into a thriving edible landscape filled with Kalo and other native crops.

The evening will also include live entertainment by Kekoa Kalehuawehe, prize giveaways, networking, and more.
 
 

You don’t need to be a farmer to support Hawai'i Farmers Union United. Anyone who is concerned about where our food comes from is welcome. Come network with local producers and talk story about growing one's own food.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share (to feed six people). Otherwise, cost is $10 for Hawai'i Farmers Union United members; $12 for non-members. This is a waste-free event. Please bring your own plate and utensils, or they will be provided for a fee.

You may become a member at the event, or by visiting HFUUHI.org. Annual membership is $50, or $100 for a family of four.
