Our Presenters
Oahu RC&D is a local independent agriculture nonprofit that works to promote the wise stewardship of island resources. Recent work has focused on assisting rural enterprises and farmers, while fostering education and adoption of sound conservation practices on rural lands. Several current projects engage farmers in imperiled watersheds, supporting their efforts to reduce soil erosion and water loss. Frankie Koethe will talk about:
  • What is the Mailiili Watershed Grant?
  • Progress of the grant and management practice installations
  • Future outcomes and goals
  • Other farm resources and projects via Oahu RC&D
University of Hawaii CTAHR Cooperative Extension provides non-formal science-based education to enrich the lives and livelihood of farmers, consumers and families in Hawaii. CE communicates with farmers and industry groups to identify and prioritize farmers’ needs and collaborates with university researchers to conduct experiments to provide practical, field-based solutions to those needs. As the outreach component of UH Manoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, CE extends practical applications of science to support local food systems, healthy living, youth development, and the stewardship of natural resources for future generations.
