We invite you to join us again on Monday, April 30th at 6:00pm to celebrate food, farming, and the power of collective action. We meet on the last Monday of every month. This months meeting will be Haloa month. The East-Hawai'i Kalo festival in Hana is April 21st. We invite all kuleana loi Kalo to be displayed and shared at at our meeting location; Na Aikane O Maui. 562 Front Street Lahaina, Hawaii 96761. This month’s meeting we are Happy to hear from Ted Radovich, Ph.D. of UH: Manoa.

What to Expect:

6:00pm: Aloha and Welcome! Blessing - Locavore Potluck (Please bring your favorite taro dish to share) or pay $12. Sampling of fresh Paiai, huli exchange and information on Kalo.
6:30pm: Community Minute - what's happening on the 'aina (Please sign in at desk)
6:45pm: Special guest Kalo Farmers on Maui
7:00pm: Ted Radovich, Ph.D.
7:30pm: Questions and Answers
7:45pm: unraffel from local businesses, farms, and donations
8:00pm: Pau
Ted Radovich, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor/Extension Specialist in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM). Ted leads the Waimanalo Learning Center at the UHM Waimanalo Research Station, featuring 4 acres of certified organic land and an aquaponics facility, and is principal investigator of the Sustainable and Organic Farming Systems Laboratory. The primary focus of his lab’s research is the link between ecological farming practices, yield, and crop quality. Ted also teaches multiple classes, including Herbs, Spices and Flavorings, Organic Food Crop Production, and Vegetable Crop production.
