*** Haleakalā Chapter's 92nd Consecutive Meeting***
HAIKU COMMUNITY CENTER
Doors Open 5:30 PM • Opening Circle 6:00 PM

Aloha Kākou,

Our next meeting is Tuesday, April 24th at Hã‘iku Community Center. Doors open at 5:30. We will be starting the meeting a little earlier this month – promptly at 6pm - in order to ensure that we finish on time. This month we will continue honoring the wonderful volunteers who make this Union work. And we will have a discussion of ways that more people can become directly involved. It should be a fun and memorable evening for us all.

Here is the Agenda for Tuesday, April 24th:
  • 6:00 Blessing & Dinner
  • 6:00-6:30 sign-up for open mic (10 people, 1 min max)
  • 6:45 Open Mic
  • 7:00 Volunteer Mahalo
  • 7:20 Discussion of current volunteer needs
  • 7:30 Break-out into discussion groups
  • 8:00 Unraffle
  • 8:15 Pau & Cleanup
On a sad note, our long-time chapter member and friend Michael Howden is battling cancer and has launched a gofundme campaign. We urge you to show your support for him at http://www.gofundme.com/helpmichaelhowden

Lastly, please remember to bring your potluck dish. Entrée’s are encouraged – we much prefer them to desserts because we want to encourage everybody to purchase the unraffle cookies and thereby support our meeting expenses.

I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Mãhalo Nui Loa,

John Dobovan

HFUU-Haleakalā Chapter President

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
We need volunteers to pass out HFUU and FAM materials at the Makawao 3rd Friday Town Celebration, Malama Aina Earth Day Celebration., Friday, April 20, from 6-9pm. We need 2 folding chairs, a tablecloth, table lamps, foliage and produce. Contact John Dobovan for more information at 955-0955 or jd@kulahavenfarms.com.

Do you like this agenda?
If you have recommendations for future events, please let your representative on the Board know what you would like your HFUU Haleakala Chapter to be doing. Email state communications director, Keith Ranney, with recommendations, comments, questions or concerns about your chapter.

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well. Sharing is caring, let’s make it happen! The three top givers of the most abundant swap items will be given complimentary deserts with the tickets for the un-raffle.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization. We are the change we are waiting for. Let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.
