You are receiving this email because of your affiliation with the Waimanalo chapter of Hawai'i Farmers Union United (HFUU).
We invite you to join us again on Monday, March 12th at 6:30pm to celebrate food, farming, and the power of collective action. We meet on the second Monday of every month at ‘Ai Love Nalo (in the back courtyard garden area), 41-1025 Kalanianaole Hwy, Waimanalo, HI 96795.
This month we will hear about exciting developments happening on the Farm to School Movement front. Lydi Bernal, the Hawaii Farm to School Hui Coordinator, will give us an update on the progress and work of the Hui. We are also honored to have Jayson Watts, representing Lieutenant Governor Doug Chin’s office. Jayson will update us about the collaborative efforts and outcomes by the DoE, DoA and Kohala Center. Come learn about how to take part in this exciting movement!
Across the nation, farm to school programs are reconnecting students to a better understanding of the food system and where their food comes from. Farm to school programs introduce students to healthier eating habits and help them become familiar with new vegetables and fruits that they and their families will then be more willing to incorporate into their own diets.
