Aloha Kākou,

Our next Haleakala Chapter meeting is Tuesday, January 22nd and you’re going to see a number of changes. We will be meeting for the first time in the cafeteria of Kalama Intermediate School on Makani Ave in Makawao. Please note that you should use the upper parking lot, adjacent to the cafeteria and administration building.

Also, we will be offering free childcare for ages 4-14 under the direction of Havilah Mills. We have a separate room for the keiki and Havilah is creating an ag-centric activity program with guidance from Dr. Ilana Fernandez.

We will make every effort to keep the formal portion of the program down to 1-hr, with time afterwards to meet the presenters and talk with them in more depth. Or just mingle with our community.

Here’s the full agenda:
  • 5:30pm: Doors open
  • 6:15pm: Circle and Pule
  • 6:30-6:45 pm: sign up for open mic
  • 6:45 pm: Open Mic
  • 6:55 pm: Unraffle
  • 7:00 pm: President’s Greeting

Doors open at 5:30 and we will be starting promptly at 6:15pm. Hope to see you all there – especially you parents who have been unable to attend in the past.

As always, this meeting is a locavore potluck, and we appreciate you bringing enough food for yourself and some to share, or making a generous contribution so your chapter can continue populating the amazing food table we are known for.

We want you to bring your farm fresh goodies, cuttings and seeds to swap at the produce swap table, the more we all bring, the more abundance there will be at our meetings, and the better our personal inventories of plant cultivars on our farms will be as well.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Look for the suggestion box by the door when you enter the meeting and let us know what you'd like to see happening at our meetings. Please think about topics you'd like to explore in breakout sessions at future meetings, write them down and let us know.

Mahalo to all of you for supporting this organization. We are the change we are waiting for. Let’s keep working together to make Maui the agriculture paradise it will be.
